Today Show in Istanbul.
Lynda McDonnell and Steve Brandt of McClatchy Newspapers spent five days in Istanbul and offer good descriptions of Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, visit to a carpet shop, exotic food, the Grand Bazaar, Yedikule (a massive fortress), the Golden Horn, and Bosphorus Cruise.
Here's an informative video from YouTube.com by world traveler Dennis Callen of Bosphorus Cruise. We preferred the 90-minute ferry ride, because we were pressed for time. It seems the best option for a ferry boat ride is to take the public Bospherous Excursion Ferry (one way, TL 10; round-trip 17.50). It leaves Eminonu at 10:35 am year-round. There are usually extra services at noon and 1:35 pm. The ferries depart from the Bogaz Iskelesi at Eminonu and stop at Besiktas, Kanlica, Yenikoy, Sariyer, Rumeli Kavagi and Anadolu Kavigi. The trip takes 90 minutes each way; return services leave Anadolu Kavagi at 3 pm and at 4:15 pm and 5pm (6 pm on Saturday).
