Scott Karp makes the case that "link journalism" -- linking to other reporting on the web to enhance, complement, source, or add more context to a journalist’s original reporting -- could have saved the New York Times from some of the criticism it has received over its expose on John McCain's ethics. A companion post, "Reinventing Journalism on the Web: Links as News, Links as Reporting" is well worth reading. UPDATE: Karp also makes a good case that "link journalism" would reduce if not eliminate the rampant plagiarism going on among journalists.
