Why Doesn't McClatchy Interactive or Capitol Broadcasting Create A 'North Carolina Voices' Blog?
It seems to me McClatchy, owner of both the Charlotte Observer and the News and Observer, is missing an opportunity to use its joint marketing and advertising power to create something like what Advance Publications has done with New Jersey Voices.
North Carolina Voices, an aggregated blog, much like the Huffington Post, of prominent and important voices in the state, linked prominently off the front pages of www.charlotte.com, www.charlotteobserver.com, www.newsobserver.com and McClatchy's other online properties, could be a powerhouse.
The problem with other aggregated blog efforts in the state is that they don't have the
marketing power of McClatchy, and can't command near the traffic McClatchy can by virtue of the fact that it owns the state's two largest newspapers.
The only other media company in the state that I'm aware of that his anything like the marketing power of McClatchy is Capitol Broadcasting of Raleigh.
BTW, if McClatchy, Capitol or anyone else cares, I just bought the domain, www.northcarolinavoices.com, for $9.95.
